Microsoft has announced the rolling out of the Skype group video calling feature on mobile phones and tablets. Last month the instant messaging and video calling platform rolled out the beta version for the pre-registered users – based on the feedback, the company fine-tuned the experience.

The new feature will be available for calling on iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets in Western Europe and North America starting from today and expects to complete the roll-out in these regions over the next week. In a blog post, the company says the feature will be available worldwide in March.

Now Skype group video calling is available on all platforms – desktop, mobile, and tablet. In the new version, Skype will allow adding up to 25 people in a group called, increased from 5 people, and they can experience the HD quality video giving a more natural feel to the call.

The software giant has worked closely with its biggest partner, Intel, to optimize SILK Super Wide Band audio codec to run on the Azure servers powered by Intel processors.

The flexible interface also allows customizing their preferred view – the person talking will be displayed front and center. In the full-screen immersive video, users can choose ‘Grid View’ or ‘Focus View’ and select participant to ‘pin’ to the stage.

In June last year, Microsoft launched Skype for Web allows users to make video calls without installing the app on the desktop. The user of this new feature can join the video call even without a Skype account. Now you can add other users by sharing the conversation link – via email, WhatsApp, Messenger, Twitter, or Facebook – recipients can join the call on Skype for Web by clicking the link.

To experience these new features, make sure your Skype app is updated with the latest version. Check here to download or upgrade to the latest version from Skype.
