Panasonic Launches World’s Lightest Fully Rugged Handheld Toughpad Models

Japanese technology giant Panasonic has unveiled the world’s lightest, fully rugged handheld tablets, Toughpad FZ-F1, and FZ-N1, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The company, in a press statement, said these devices are ideal for transportation and logistics, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare market to manage inventory, delivery routing, parcel tracking, and more.

On the launch of the device at MWC 2016, Jan Ruderman, Vice President, Business Mobility Group, Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, said, “Enterprise and government users are looking to do more with handheld tablets than ever before.”

Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1powered by Android will hit the retail stores by the end of March at an estimated street price of $1,499.00 (approximately Rs. 103,000). The company also plans to bring a voice model in the summer of 2016 that will run through Wi-Fi.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-F1 and FZ-N1 feature a 4.7-inch (720×1280 pixels) display and are powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) processor with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB RAM.

The devices pack with 16GB of internal memory that can be extended up to 64 GB via a micro SD card. Both these devices essentially differ only on the OS front – the FZ-F1 runs Windows 10 IoT. On the other hand, FZ-N1 runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Both models will be available with dual SIM slots and certified on leading mobile carrier networks, providing 4G LTE/3G/GPRS/CDMA2000 mobile broadband for voice (or VoIP) and data functionality apart from Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and GPS connectivity issues.

The devices sport an 8-megapixel rear with LED flash as well as 5-megapixel front cameras. Both come with a 3200mAh battery, while the company will offer an optional 6200mAh long-life battery back.

Users will also get a built-in glove-enabled, multi-touch, and sunlight viewable display with a rain sensing mode that delivers accurate operation, even in inclement weather.
