Amidst the speculation of a Yahoo buyout, the search engine company announced to shut down some of its products, including Games, LiveText, Astrology, Regional Media properties, and more.  The company, in a Tumbler blog post, has revealed that the Tumbler in future will make it a point to put its focus on core consumer products: Mail, Search, Tumblr, News, Sports, Finance, and Lifestyle.

“During our last earnings call, we outlined a plan for simplifying the business and focusing on our strengths across seven core consumer products: Mail, Search, Tumblr, News, Sports, Finance and Lifestyle. Over 1 billion people come to Yahoo each day, and we are dedicated to providing them with the best experience possible.”-Amotz Maimon, the Chief Architect

In the last few months, the company has taken a tough decision to operate its business- from layoff to reducing services. In the future, the company expected to pull the trigger for regional media – genre-specific media properties that provide News, Sports, Finance, and Lifestyle content.

The report also suggests that Yahoo will close its Astrology service in some countries like the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and India. The Tumbler won’t support BOSS JSON Search API and BOSS Hosted Search; it will not support the BOSS Placefinder and Placespotter APIs from March 31, 2016.
