If there is any congestion on the road you’re traveling, Google Maps’ voice navigation system will tell you which alternate routes you might choose to avoid heavy traffic. It will also provide you the explanations why the alternate road is recommended for you – whether it’s just to avoid traffic or reach your destination quickly.
Google’s voice navigation system helps users get alert to traffic conditions while walking or driving on the road. The voice navigation tells users where to turn, which road to take, or even suggests a better route, and if you are off the track, it will automatically suggest a new route.
Here is a simple guide for how you can start voice navigation in your Google Maps app on iOS or Android devices.
- Tap on Google Maps on your smartphone.
- Once the app is fully opened, put your destination to get directions to a location.
- If you want to hear voice-guided navigation, tap on the Navigate option, and Google Maps will provide you with detailed traffic details.
- When you have reached your destination, you can disable voice navigation – just go to the bottom left and touch the icon X.
