After the launch Mi Band 2 in China back in June this year Xiaomi is now eying India – the company’s second most important market.  On its official Twitter handle, the company announced that Mi Band 2 will be available for sale from 27th September on Mi.com and from 30th September on Amazon India.

Earlier, the Chinese technology giant launched Mi Band at an affordable price of Rs. 999 in India. At that time Xiaomi was the only company that sold a fitness tracker under Rs 5,000 and was very much feasible for the consumers. Although it lacked features like a heart rate monitor and a display that companies like GOQii and FitBit put in their fitness trackers still people accepted it.

With its second version of Mi Band, the company has tried to overcome the drawbacks compared to its predecessor and comes with a better display, heart rate monitoring, and improved battery life.

Design Specification of Mi Band 2: –

This band uses a more or less design similar to last year’s Mi Band. However, there is the addition of a small display panel on the capsule-shaped module. The OLED display panel has a layer of Gorilla Glass, and it feels sturdy enough. The company said that is not scratch resistant.

The display shows the usual fitness data like footsteps, distance, calories, heart rate, and time. The module has a small button that cycles through this data when pressed.

Beneath the capsule lies the heart rate sensor, which can be felt digging in the skin if the band is worn too tight. It seems that Xiaomi has changed the material used in the fitness tracker because some people faced skin rashes problems with the predecessor band, but this time, no issue like that people reported yet. Moreover, Mi Band 2 is fully water resistant.

The most interesting feature of Mi Band 2 is that it will vibrate if you’ve been inactive for an hour or so.

The band also vibrates if you get any notifications on your phone but it doesn’t show them like some other advanced fitness trackers do.

The fitness band comes with an enhanced battery – the Mi Band 2 can keep running for 20 days on a single charge.
