The iPhone 7 effect has not ended yet, and a new report pops in that Apple is planning to overhaul the upcoming iPhone 8 with new features and design. A new report posted on The Korea Economic Daily states that the technology giant is probably to bring new 3D Dual-Lens camera hardware for iPhone 8.

The company is closely working with South Korean technology major LG to develop a camera capable of taking a 3D photograph. Next year Apple will be celebrating its 10th anniversary – the addition of a new feature could be a probable move by the company. Apple is now studying how to apply its 3D camera technology to LG Innotek’s smartphone camera, adding that since LG Innotek also has its own 3D camera and related technologies, such joint efforts will likely bear fruit sometime next year.

In April 2015, Apple acquired LinX, an Imaging startup, for $20 million. So, it is obvious the company may use enhanced camera technology, which includes 3D depth mapping and lighting enhancements. To create 3D imagery dual camera is to be supplemented with the phone, and LG is now supplying its dual cameras for iPhone 7 which was released in Korea last month.

We are not sure whether the new feature will be hardware-based or if there will be software enhancement since the company doesn’t own any patent for face and biometric recognition. Some other sources say that Apple has a dedicated team who will be working on augmented reality (AR) for integration into the iPhone camera app.

There were no major changes in iPhone 7, and it is rumored the company has a major re-design plan for iPhone 8. The upcoming phone in the latter half of 2017 to have a glass body and edge-to-edge OLED display that includes an integrated Touch ID fingerprint sensor and front-facing camera.
