Google on Thursday finally announced the facility of Railwire Wi-Fi across Indian Railway Stations. Eleven months back Google started working on its goal of bringing free Wi-Fi to 400 railway stations in India. And following this plan Google is finally here with its high-speed Railtel Wi-Fi facility at the 100th railway station at Udhagamandalam, Ooty.

It is well known that Google’s first launch of its Wi-Fi service was at Mumbai Central in January this year. Google started working on this project with the aim to bring the Railtel service to 100 railway stations by the end of this year. And finally on Thursday Google announced its success with the 100th Railtel announcement.

Google High Speed WiFi

According to Google, all the persons passing through the Ooty railway station can now enjoy high-speed internet connectivity. All the 100 railway stations are now enjoying Google’s Railtel service with such a high-speed internet facility. Passengers can stream HD videos, check their emails, and can access all the messaging apps with a great fluent network.

According to a survey, over 50 lakh users are using the Google Railtel Wi-Fi facility monthly, and every day 15,000 naive users get connected to it.

On the launching of Google’s 100th Railtel, Gulzar Azad, Country Head at Google India said that “We’re really excited about how far we’ve come since announcing our partnership with Indian Railways and Railtel to provide Wi-Fi at 400 railways stations across India. But what really inspired us are the stories of how people, like Bhagwan, are using this high-speed access to the full and open internet to make their lives a little bit better.”

Google has shared an experience of a person about the Google Railtel Wi-Fi facility at the Jaipur Railway station on its official blog. Now the company I look forward to providing Google’s free Wi-Fi facility to the remaining 300 stations.
