Google Assistant Rolled Out for More Android Marshmallow and Nougat Phones

Google has rolled out Google Assistant to more smartphones running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android 7.0 Nougat. An Android Authority report suggests that the new update has already been seeded by the company and users “have been receiving the Assistant on their devices over the past 12 hours or so”.

Google Assistant is an intelligent personal assistant powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning and developed by Google which was announced at Google I/O last year. Google finally announced at Mobile World Congress that this week it will bring the Google Assistant update to the Android Marshmallow and Nougat versions.

The Google Assistant can do many things for users, like you can ask the Assistant to confirm calendar bookings, suggest a restaurant close by, and even play games with the Assistant.

You can launch Assistant by simply long pressing on the Home button and it will be activated. If you want to look for the Google Assistant on your smartphone, then they will get in Settings>About Phone> and Check for an update.

Specifically, Google says Assistant will arrive “this week to English users in the U.S., followed by English in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as German speakers in Germany.” Previously, Assistant was exclusive to the Pixel phones. However, in the non-phone world, you can already find it in Google Home in Allo, and on Android Wear 2.0.

Google recently opened up the Assistant to third-party developers, which means users, will soon be able to book an Uber or ask it to download a movie or buy something on an e-commerce site, straight by talking to it. And it is also said that this is being limited to the Google Home device for now, which is not yet available in India.

Samsung will have Galaxy S8 comes with its own Bixby Assistant. Amazon’s Alexa is coming to Motorola phones this year; Moto Z will be the first phone supporting it.
