Online cab aggregator Uber has finally unveiled its new app, UberEATS which provides food delivery service in India. It will be initially available in Mumbai in Powai, Bandra East, Bandra Kurla Complex, and the west-lying regions. UberEATS has partnered with 200 restaurants in the city, including The Bohri Kitchen, Nom Nom, The Bombay Canteen, The Good Wife, Fresh Menu, etc.

The new UberEATS app provides service in 78 cities across 26 countries worldwide. The EATS app was initially launched in Los Angeles as a pilot project in 2014. Last year in March, the app was launched in Singapore, the first Asian country, and was further launched in other Asian countries, namely Tokyo, Japan, and Bangkok, Thailand. Zomato and Swiggy are the competitors of UberEATS for online food delivery.

At the launch event in Mumbai on Tuesday, Uber also appointed Bhavik Rathod as the new head of UberEATS in India, who was earlier GM (South & West) of Uber’s ride business.

Mumbai is home to a booming food industry with a vibrant food culture offering both global and local cuisines. The introduction of UberEATS in India, with Mumbai as the first city, is a major step in our global expansion and showcases our commitment to the region,- Bhavik Rathod, Head of UberEATS India, said in a statement.

UberEATS Android App

The important thing about UberEATS is that the services are not integrated with the Uber app, i.e., it is an independent, standalone app. However, the technologies used in Uber and UberEATS are the same. There is a charge of Rs.15 on the delivery of each order. Though there no restriction on minimum order size.

UberEATS will provide service 24 X 7 for all types of meals, i.e., breakfast, lunch, dinner, or the times in between. By the end of the year, the service will be available in six different Indian cities: Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi. This new app also provides a feedback section for all customers for improvement of the app and the services.

How to Use UberEATS App:

  1. Download the app.
  2. Pick delivery location – Input your address where you’d like your meal delivered
  3. Find the perfect meal – Browse local restaurants or search by cuisine type according to your taste
  4. Place your order – Pick the items you want right now or schedule your order to arrive whenever is most convenient for you
  5. Pay through PayTM
  6. Track the progress of the delivery – Get updates as your order is prepared and delivered to your destination

The UberEATS app is available for all iOS and Android users on Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. UberEATS will also be available on web at UberEATS.com for those who can’t use the app.
