Android devices are designed to perform numerous tasks seamlessly. Despite that, it is not immune to performance issues which are very common to smartphone devices. Your Android device may start creating performance issues due to some software or hardware issues. Let’s discuss ways to boost and optimize your Android following a few simple steps.

Stop Background Services:

A lot of apps and services on your device in the form of bloatware and other apps continuously run in the background even when you are not using them actively. These apps include a lot of those apps which you rarely use or intend to use them in the future. Thus, these unnecessary apps not only occupy precious storage space on your device but it also avails device resources like RAM, etc. and make your device run slow.

To stop services running in the background in the latest Android devices, go to Settings > Developer Options and choose “Running Services” option to instantly stop all running services individually.

In older version Android, go to Settings > Application Manager > Running and select the app you want to stop from running in the background and press “Stop” button to stop services running in the background by individual app. Here, you will need to follow the same process to stop services running in the background by other apps.

Disable Bloatware:

Bloatware comes pre-installed on your device in the form of various built-in apps and programs by the manufacturer. It includes manufacturer based apps and third-party apps and programs. This lot of bloatware includes many of those apps and programs which you rarely use or intend to use in future thus all these apps remain on your device for no good reason. All these apps occupy precious storage space and affect your device speed and performance negatively.

Removing bloatware from your device is practically not possible unless you prefer to root your device, which has its own limitations. Thus, to deal with it, you can consider disabling all such apps to stop them using device resources. When you disable these apps, it will not run in the background, update itself or display in the app drawer. To disable bloatware, go to Settings > Applications and swipe left to access “All” apps. Now select the app that you want to disable, open it and press “Disable” or “Uninstall” button. It will instantly stop that app using device resources.

Clear App Cache:

App Cache accumulates on your device over time when you perform different tasks on your device. These cache files accumulate in large number occupying a lot of storage space and affecting your device performance. To clear complete app cache, go to Settings > Storage > Cached Data and press OK to clear cached data immediately. To clear cache of an individual app, Go to Settings > Applications and swipe left to open “All” tab. Now scroll down to find the apps you want to clean the cache of. Click on the app to open it and press the “Clear Cache” button to instantly clear the cache.

Avoid Animation & Live Wallpaper:

Animation and live wallpapers on your device make it look good, but at the same time, it occupies a lot of device resources affecting your device performance. These extra features require more CPU cycles to run and make the device run slower. To block animation and wallpapers you first need to enable Developer Options on your device. To do this, go to Settings of your device and press multiple times on About Phone option until it displays a message confirming that the Developer Options is enabled.

Now go to Developer Options and scroll down to find three different options including Window Animation Scale, Transitions Animation Scale, and Animation Duration Scale.  Tap on each of these options and turn them off. Keep Developer Options enabled as disabling it, will reset the settings to the prior stage.

Update your Device:

Thus, to keep your device performance intact, you should keep your device updated with all recent updates. To do this, go to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update. Here, you will find all the latest updates for your device.
