Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today has joined hands with International Talent Support (ITS), to promote the talent of young minds through the competition to create the Samsung Galaxy Award within the ITS program. This will let the young minds to present their innovative approaches and designs by creating a model from Diesel denim that represents the merging of both technology and fashion.
The President of Visual Display Business HS.Kim said that “We want to give everyone, including our consumers, the opportunity to show off their creativity and help us design the next big TV accessory” at Samsung Electronics.
This new leading and architectural design will start from June 16 to August 1. There is no entry fee for the competition but the age of participants should be above 18 years and should be able to represent their work in front of English speaking judges. The most interesting news about the competition is the prize money of total 30,000 euros. The only thing competitors have to do is submit their QLED TV stand blueprints with a business plan.
These designs will be produced into real stands, which will be exhibited as part of a special installation at IFA 2017 in the Samsung booth. The top ten shortlisted finalists will be awarded with prize money of 1,000 euro. The top five finalists of the “Dezeen x Samsung QLED TV: Stand Design Competition” will get a chance to visit Europe’s leading consumer electronics and home appliance trade show-Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) 2017, held from September 1 to September 4 in Berlin, Germany. The top four finalists will be rewarded with cash prize of 3000 euro and the winner will be awarded 8,000 euro.
The jury members of the competition are
- Moon Soo Kim, head of TV sales and marketing team for Samsung, Visual Display Business;
- Yun Je Kang, head of TV design team for Samsung, Visual Display Business;
- David Lowes, SVP and European CMO for Samsung;
- Rima Sabina Aouf, deputy editor of Dezeen.
Dezeen will also interview finalist and broadcast a short movie about everyone. The shortlisted designs will also be published.
