Useful and Handy
OP5 offers a weight of 153 grams and measures 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25 mm. Various minor changes may not appear to the users as compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 3T. But the design and the dual rear camera setup are two of the major changes that advance the OnePlus series. In fact, the Chinese company used innovative methods to manipulate benchmark scores, making the new variants “more blatant and consciously introduced”.
OP5 is run by OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It packs a 1.9GHz Octa-core processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with Adreno 540 GPU. As for the display, OP5 comes with an Optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen (supporting sRGB and DCI-P3 color standards), 5.5 inches offering a 1080x1920p resolution, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The dual rear camera setup includes 16-megapixel (with f/1.7 aperture and Sony IMX398 sensor, 1.12-micron pixels) and 20-megapixel (with f/2.6 aperture and Sony IMX350 sensor, 1-micron pixels) sensors, with a telephoto lens for the latter. The former will capture 34% more light as compared to OP 3T. The OP5 front bears a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1-micron pixel Sony IMX371 sensor, and EIS.
The non-removable Li-Ion 3300 mAh battery is said to tick for more than one and a half days. The latest technology of fingerprint sensor is one of the best features of OP5, with fast-paced attribute and over average precision that even tops the same of Galaxy S8.
OP5 connectivity offers Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC, along with dual SIM slots and LTE technology. Supporting tradition, the device contains a single speaker, a 3.5mm audio jack, hardware capacitive keys with an on-screen navigation option, and the Alert Slider. The phone includes a USB C port with Dash Charger and is available in slate gray and midnight black colors.
The software of Op5 is highly optimized as it sublimely supports multitasking, scrolling, and opening apps. Not much junk is to be faced by the user in the software, as apps can be run in the background without eating up resources. It includes a Reading Mode that alters screen temperature and calibrates a display to match the ambiance. The refined design language endorses bug fixes for improving the user experience.
Availability and Price
Both the OnePlus flagship models – OP5 with 6GB and 8GB can be availed from Amazon India, as it was leaked two days ago. The OP5 with 6GB is priced at Rs. 32,999, and the one with 8GB RAM range at Rs. 37,999. Although the prices are a little higher than that of the OnePlus 3T, the packs are worth the rates.
According to market experts, the models would not be able to compete on all fronts with Galaxy S8 or a Pixel. Yet, given the specs and the high-end hardware alongside the affordability in price, the OP5 can be underlined as being a good smartphone for the price. And according to a tweet of OnePlus CEO Carl Pei, it is already the fastest-selling smartphone by the company so far.
