Google, among other service providers on the web platform, is quite well known for providing various means of communication worldwide. While consumers can use the apps such as Allo, Duo, and Hangouts, enterprises get to use Hangouts Meet and Chat – for communication.
In the Hangouts Meet and Chat app, the Meet functionality focuses on video conferencing, and the Chat can be used as a chatting tool. The Chat is still in its developmental stage, and the Meet is currently available for enterprises. Well, Chat may still be unavailable, but thanks to a new update by Google, chatting is still possible for enterprises during video calls.
Meet received an update by Google for featuring chat functionality to help you chat while you are in a video call. There is a new chat tab in the side drawer on Meet’s desktop version, and it can be opened on the bottom right by clicking. On the other hand, the mobile Meet app has the chat tab on the far right.
This is where one must remember to have arrangements for taking important notes, as the chat conversations cannot be saved. The chats exist till you are on the call and get deleted once your conference ends.
Now, there is an argument regarding Google going on developing various chat apps, starting from Allo to Hangouts Meet and Chat. It is so because these apps have similar chat functionality, and the differences between these apps are quite blurred. Well, if you are willing to separate work stuff from personal, the argument does not hold.
Having all said and done, the new Chat functionality update of Hangouts Meet will be available for the G Suite users soon enough. For the time being, while chat is not available, app enthusiasts can enjoy the G Suite Early Adopter Program. Follow this space for further updates.
