On the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of the Portuguese Air Force’s, Samsung is all set to partner with the Portuguese military for the development of an exciting project. One is for the common public which will provide civilians a way to see the thrill of flying, another project is designed for the pilots which will provide them the precision instrument.

SmartWatch for the Pilots

Watches have always been inspired by the aviation industry. The latest product Samsung Gear S3 frontier Special Edition is one of a kind smartwatch which is developed with military aeronautics. It will carry an IP68 certification making it water and dust proof. It will be very durable and can adapt to all the requirements of military standards. A special edition of the watch will have design and appearance to celebrate the innovation and tradition of Portuguese Air Force.

A lot of input from Portuguese Pilots has been taken to design the watch. It will come with a black dial that will provide the date, time, day of month and week. There is a special display or Zulu time, which is the worldwide reference for the pilots.

Numbers on the dial are written with a font which the Portuguese Air Force traditionally uses on their Air Craft. There is also a PoAF symbol on the top with inscription Portuguese Air Force.

Experience flying with Gear VR

For a long time now, Samsung is in partnership with Impresa Media Group which has been shooting a series of reality fils which provide users with experience which comes with sitting in the seat of the pilot of a top of the line military aircraft.

These pictures were recorded using the Samsung Gear 360 camera and were released on the occasion of Air Force’s 65th anniversary. The video was shown in Gear VR headset and provides users with direct entry in the cockpit of the Alpha Jet fighters, F-16 AM Fighter Jets and Aerospatiale Alouette III helicopters.
