Here comes another breaking news for all those WhatsApp lovers out there. It’s thus being confirmed through reliable sources that Co-founder of WhatsApp Brian Acton is leaving the company to start his own non-profit.

First of all, very few of us must be aware that WhatsApp has two co-founders, Jan Koum & Brian Acton. Presently Jan Koum is the CEO and is not leaving the company. Amusingly, Acton was not hired when interviewed at Facebook in 2009 after leaving a job at Yahoo.

Acton initially declared his departure to colleagues at WhatsApp all-hand meeting held at Facebook headquarters on Tuesday. The news was later published by Acton via his Facebook profile in the afternoon that stated, “I am very fortunate at my age to have the flexibility to take new risks and focus on what I’m passionate about.” Acton, 45, wrote in a Facebook post, “I’ve decided to start a nonprofit focused at the intersection of nonprofit, technology and communications. It’s something I’ve thought about for a while, and now it’s time to just focus and execute. I’ll have more to share in the coming months.”

Forbes estimates Acton’s net worth at $6.5 billion. Thus, as of now, even if it is not clear how Acton will focus on his new endeavor, he certainly has enough money to invest.

Presently, WhatsApp doesn’t generate any revenue. Therefore, this departure is a reason as 1.3 billion WhatsApp users are trying to make some money.

On the other hand, WhatsApp is currently hiring for a number of key business positions, as sources reveal that the company is building multiple enterprise products. These products are said to help businesses interact with customers through the app.
