Around 11,000 ‘Model X SUVs, manufactured in-between 28/10/2016 and 16/08/2017 by Tesla Inc. has been recalled from all over the world due to some manufacturing faults. Although Tesla believes only 3% of the cars might suffer from that issue, the company clearly doesn’t want to take any kind of risk for the safety of its customers.

According to Tesla, the problem involves vehicles with fold-flat second-row seats. It was discovered in recent internal testing. The company doubts that some cables in the rear seats may not have been tightened properly. This issue prevents the rear seats from getting locked in properly which can cause the seats to move forward during crashes resulting into some serious damage.

Tesla released an official statement to CNBC stating, “During recent internal testing, Tesla determined that a small number of cables in the 2nd row fold-flat seats in some 2016 and 2017 Model X vehicles may need to be adjusted. Although Tesla has not received reports of any issues or accidents relating to this condition, we will be conducting a voluntary recall to inspect the affected vehicles and confirm whether any adjustment is needed.”

The company can either address all of the required repairs with its mobile repair service or ask the owners to take their cars to a nearby Tesla service center.

The company has been investigating if there is any sort of news of injuries caused by this issue. The California-based automaker started informing about the issue to its customers from this Thursday.
