Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus

Xiaomi is going to launch the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus at a press event on December 7. These two are the next smartphones after Mi Mix 2 in terms of featuring a full-screen display from the brand.

Two other highlighted features of the new phones are Soft Selfie and 4,000 mAh battery, as revealed by Xiaomi. But no other details on the specs are revealed as yet, although previous leaks are quite suggestive of what to expect.

Redmi 5 is expected to feature 5.7-inch HD screen with 1440 x 720 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is to pack Snapdragon 450, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, with another variant that comes with 32GB internal. The cameras include a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front snapper.

As for Redmi 5 Plus, the screen is supposed to be 5.99-inch supporting FHD and 2160 x 1080 pixels, along with 18:9 aspect ratio. The processor would be Snapdragon 625, same as in Redmi Note 4. The Redmi 5 Plus is also bearing a dual rear camera setup with 12mp primary and 5MP secondary sensors. It is to run on the Android 7.1 Nougat-based MIUI.

While talking about price, Redmi 5 will have the tag of about 699 Yuan or $106, and Redmi 5 Plus will cost about 999 Yuan or $151.
