Earlier this week, Pixel and Nexus received Android 8.1 Oreo, and yesterday it was the time for Android Wear. In October this year, Google said that LG Watch Sport would receive a beta program. The wearable has now become one of the first devices to receive the Android Wear Update, Oreo.

Android Wear Oreo

A Google developer advocate in the Android Wear community said on Google+ that the rollout of Oreo to Android Wear started yesterday. He also mentioned that the timing is settled by the manufacturers of the watches.

Oreo is not packing any redesign for wearables, but it does have quite a few new tricks under its sleeves that are useful and convenient for users. To start with, you get a “Touch Lock” in Settings for disabling touch-to-wake, which comes in handy under wet conditions, as stated by Google.

Next, you can now control the vibration strength for the incoming notifications. The option is named ‘Vibration pattern,’ and it provides three parameters: Normal, Long, and Double.

You will also have a ‘Battery saver’ for your wearable that you can control manually rather than waiting for the device to be low in charge. Enabling the battery saver will disable Location services, Vibration, Wi-Fi & mobile usage, the Always-on display, and Data & app updates. Battery saver and background limits for Oreo, together, will provide better battery life for your LG Watch Sport or other wearables.

The entire Oreo update offers notification channels for the apps that should have more granular user controls. In addition, the wear has been made available in 7 new countries and languages: Belgium (Dutch), Czech Republic (Czech), El Salvador (Spanish), Honduras (Spanish), Nigeria (English), Paraguay (Spanish), and Portugal (Portuguese).

Several reports have already been for LG Watch Sport to have received the latest Android Update.
