It was August a couple of years ago when Xiaomi, through one of its secondary brands launched to the market what we could consider its first smartwatch, the Huami Amazfit. It came to Chinese stores at a price of 799 yuan, about 100 euros and until now we had no idea when the brand would launch the successor of that wearable. Finally tomorrow we will have Xiaomi’s new smartwatch, the Xiaomi Huami Amazfit 2.

And while some users are waiting for the Chinese brand to present its new smart band, the Xiaomi Mi Band 3, it seems that the managers of the company are focusing their strategy on launching their new wearables devices through second brands. In this way, without Mi Band 3 and without the Chinese’s own smartwatch, this is  Xiaomi’s new smartwatch, the Amazfit 2.

Although the users continue doubting if that Huami Amazfit could be considered as the first intelligent watch of ,Xiaomi the mark other people’s to this controversy continues focused on renewing that device. Since it is now accepted as a product of the firm, we can say that the Amazfit 2 would be Xiaomi’s new smartwatch, for better or for worse.

Presentation in less than 24 hours

Today the manufacturer announced that tomorrow we will know the official characteristics of the Amazfit 2, which can be booked from tomorrow and that, as expected, will integrate different improvements with respect to Xiaomi’s Amazfit. However, what will these improvements consist of?

Unfortunately, there is no information about this new Xiaomi smartwatch. All we know is that it is ‘an annual flagship’, as indicated by the brand itself on the poster announcing the event tomorrow. Neither do we expect it to be very different from the original Huami Amazfit, a watch featuring a 1.34-inch screen with a resolution of 300 × 300 pixels, a 1.2 GHz processor accompanied by 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage, a battery of 200mAh, and different connectivity options.

Since its predecessor was, it is expected that the new Xiaomi smartwatch has resistance to water and dust. It is likely that the screen grows in resolution and the battery improves slightly but until the presentation of the device does not take place we can not venture to guess its real specifications. With regard to its price, we do hope that it will continue to be around 100 euros at the exchange rate.
