Yesterday, Apple released the iMac Pro, that’s the fastest and the most powerful Mac to date. It belongs to a new product line for pro users who are passionate about all-in-one iMac design and need workstation-class efficiency.
Eighteen cores of Xeon processors, 22 Teraflops of graphics performance, and an amazing 27-inch Retina 5k display together make up the iMac Pro. It can deliver spectacular compute power for real-time 3D rendering, intensive workflows for developers, immersive VR, complex simulations, vast audio projects, high megapixel photography, and real-time video editing on 4K and 8K contents.
iMac Pro’s next-gen processors and the Retina display together ensure the most powerful graphics performance for Mac. The machine further features an all-new thermal architecture that bears up to 80 percent more cooling capacity, and that too, in the same superbly seamless aluminum and glass built that’s widely loved.
The 5mm thin iMac Pro showcases a stunning space grey finish and comes off with matching accessories, a Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and an optional Magic Trackpad. The display has 500 units of brightness, a P3 wide color gamut, and support for 1 billion colors! In addition, the desktop computer is available with four microphones equipped with beamforming technology, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera having enhanced low-light performance, and 50 percent louder new speakers.
Packing next-gen compute cores and 16GB high bandwidth memory (HBM2), iMac Pro also features Vega GPU, delivering 11 Teraflops of single-precision compute power for high frame rate VR and real-time 3D rendering. It even delivers precise performance for half-precision computing that’s ideal for machine learning, with 22 Teraflops.
The computer supports up to 128GB of ECC memory and 4TB of SSD. There are four Thunderbolt 3 ports connecting up to two 5K displays and two high-performance RAID arrays simultaneously. iMac Pro furthermore features 10GB Ethernet for up to 10 times faster networking.
Apple brings a new standard of security and integration for iMac Pro with T2 chip, it’s second-gen custom Mac silicon. T2 offers new abilities like enhanced image processing for FaceTime HD camera, as it bears newly designed and integrated controllers like image signal processor, System Management Controller, SSD controller, and audio controller.
As for security, T2 provides an opening for a new level to the users. It packs a secure enclave coprocessor that brings a foundation of new encrypted storage and provides security to boot capabilities. Without affecting performance, the dedicated AES hardware can encrypt data on SSD. The secure boot puts a check that only trusted software will load at every startup.
Available since December 14, the iMac Pro starts its cost range at US$4,999. Get more details on https://www.apple.com/imac-pro/.
