Pokémon Go was one of the revolutions of last year, and although it had a decrease in the number of users a few months after its launch, it has been able to grow again in the summer this year. Niantic has prepared some great advances for Pokémon GO in iOS.  The first one will be the new augmented reality based on ARKit to improve the user experience.

Augmented reality is a subject in which Apple wants to bet fully. In this year, we saw that Google opted for a project – already abandoned – called Project Tango, to get the augmented reality to work, thanks to hardware. Shortly after showing the world ARKit, an augmented reality system based on software, Apple reached all the iPhone,  thanks to iOS 11.

This system works best in the mobile world, even better than Google’s ARCore and because of that, companies know where they have to bet. They see a lot of future to the augmented reality issue, as Apple also sees. Niantic, one of the most important developers in the world, will take advantage of this system to equip the Pokemon Go of AR +, a better-augmented reality than what do they have now?

AR + will arrive at Pokémon GO in very little thanks to ARKit

Niantic has announced that AR + is an enhanced system of its augmented reality incorporated in the application, which will allow pokémon to be fixed at a point in space, being able to zoom in and zoom out to see its real size. We can see pokémon of great size, on a real scale, in the real world. Best of all, this technology is also accompanied by a fairly basic artificial intelligence system. The Pokémon will interact with each other, and for example – They can be scared of you if you get too close to them and run away, so you have to take into account the distance that we are from them. This meter will be called Consciousness and will vary according to different parameters.

All this work has been done thanks to the collaboration that the people of Niantic have made with Apple to optimize their application to the maximum. They have not answered the questions of whether this feature for Android will also come with Google having its own augmented reality platform, ARCore, but maybe it is because the Google system is still at an early stage of development. We still have no date for us to see the new AR of Niantic in Pokémon Go, given that they say it will be in the coming months, so we will be attentive to see if it arrives in the first quarter of the year. It will be able to support all the iPhone 6s forwards since it also needs a lot of hardware to survive.
