Furthering its own tagline, which goes “Make it Matter Keep Reinventing”, at CES 2018, HP unveiled the launch of a new version of its Qualcomm Envy x2 2-in-1 convertible, which is powered by Intel. The Intel 7th generation Y-series processor swaps the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, replicating most features from the Snapdragon model (such as the fanless design with LTE) .

But, all the same, the Intel variant is slightly heavier (at 1.65 pounds) and thicker (at 7.9 mm) in build and assures redefined and improved performance through its 7th gen Intel Core i-series processor, with Windows 10 Home replacing Snapdragon’s Windows 10s. Furthermore, the Intel version provides a whole lot of reinvented and improvised features; sharper screen resolution to 4K (1,920 x 1,280-pixel resolution) boasting of a 12.3-inch touch display, a redesigned backlit keyboard cover designed to literally make the laptop more lap-friendly, screen protection by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and so forth. Its storage capacity is equal to 256 GB SSD storage and up to 8GB of RAM. It offers two USB Type-C ports and a microSD card slot.

This fresh and advanced HP convertible variant is the most lucrative catch for consumers who do not want to tread the ARM-Windows path. However, due to the battery optimization technology of the Intel processor, the new HP Envy x2 2 in-1 version has a lower battery life than its Snapdragon predecessor, rated at 15.9 hours as opposed to 20 hours for Snapdragon. But, HP’s Fast Charge Technology can be availed any time to smoothen this little hitch, recharging the battery by 1 percent every minute.

In contrast to the Snapdragon version, whose detachable keyboard can be simply attached in varying degrees of tilt to affix the most comfortable writing position, the keyboard of the Intel version sports a flat design, but only so that the screen can be conveniently positioned in laptop, reading or tablet mode, without having to remove the protective back cover, where comfort is the key for a growingly sedentary consumer base for convertibles while at home and when on the move, the HP Intel x2 variant befittingly fits the bill, furthermore, attractive attributes like a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera help rev up the shutterbugs in the users while a SIM card slot, a 3.5 mm audio jack enhance the overall USP of the Intel version in the global market for convertibles.

As reported by CNET, HP will soon include the keyboard and the pen (as the tablet is pen-enabled) in the price, but the pricing is yet to be revealed, with the exact availability remaining unfixed. The Intel-powered HP Envy x2 2 in 1 is supposed to hit the stores this spring, besides the Qualcomm Snapdragon x2. With this new convertible model, HP truly embodies the qualifiers attributed to its laptops and tablets “Powerful, Stunning.”
