Internet browsing on airplanes can become a real ordeal. In addition to its high price and restrictions in the form of limits on consumption, we have a speed that leaves much to be desired on some occasions. It is true that there have been many advances, but there is still ground to travel to have better WiFi on airplanes. For this, Panasonic has presented the third generation of its satellite connectivity service that will offer, among other things, WiFi 20 times faster on airplanes.

During the first quarter of 2018, several airlines will adopt Panasonic’s new system for connecting to the internet from aircraft. The improvement of these connections is one of the main demands of both airlines and passengers. As the internet has become part of our lives, especially in the workplace, we can not afford the luxury of spending several hours without a connection.

The new network system makes use of Panasonic satellites that cover all areas of the planet with the densest traffic, also being compatible with a television service on board aircraft. In conjunction with the new modem developed with Newtec, the system is able to offer a bandwidth never seen.

With this new system, we will be able to enjoy high-speed internet (we talk about WiFi 20 times faster on airplanes), video streaming, calls, and VoIP communications, television service with improved image quality and a wide range of channels, possibility to offer 3G for calls and enough bandwidth for the entire plane.

It also has new support measures to reduce falls or improve network performance. Currently, more than 1,800 aircraft are using Panasonic’s satellite internet systems, although the company expects to reach 10,000 aircraft connected to the new technology around the world by the year 2025.
