The increasingly tech-savvy user base of the 21st century is quite hung up on messaging apps, and Google messaging apps are high up on the popularity list of such apps. But, most of the Google messaging apps are caught up in a hitch at this stage, pushing few users towards either Allo or Duo. Of the two, the video-messaging enabled Duo app has more spark than Allo, as its latest update is to enable users to call up contacts regardless of whether the Duo app is installed on their devices or not.

As reported by Android Police, the latest update in Duo includes this attribute to call users, with the spontaneity of an “Instant App” like experience called App Preview Messaging that’s sported by Google Play services that allow Android users to receive calls through Duo.

The user experience is enhanced manifold due to attractive attributes such as both video and audio calls, and not to forget the Knock Knock preview feature that lets the user get a view of what’s happening at the other end of the incoming call. The call receivers can toy with many add-on options besides answering the calls, such as changing camera angles, muting the microphone, etc. Moreover, there’s even a pop-up notification that enables the user to switch between apps. The option to install Duo pops up after the call has ended, and so does the option to block the caller from calling ever again.

The duo isn’t the most popular yet, but many people are switching to Duo and choosing it over Alo as it provides a smooth and pleasant experience of video and audio calling. So, this app is highly recommended for a test run with someone who’s not yet got the hang of it.

The app’s popularity is anticipated to only go up the curve as other apps require both the participants of a call to essentially have the same app installed. Duo comes up as a welcome exception, serving as its USP for one and all.

The new update of the Duo that makes its video calling different from other apps promotes hassle-free connectivity between people, as goes its tagline – “Your closest friend, closer.”
