ZTE came up with its first-ever foldable smartphone, called ZTE Axon M, in the second half of 2017. But this could not be tagged as the ideal smartphone as the first ever revolutionary product may contain certain shortcomings. But this doesn’t stop ZTE from continuing to create foldable smartphones. Jeff Yee, Vice President of Marketing for ZTE, said in an interview that they plan to come up with more mobile devices with the folding hull, which is expected to be announced by December 2018.

We’ll eventually get to something that’s truly bendable. There’s a lot of other things that we might be adding over time – Jeff Yee

The ZTE Axon M was the world’s first foldable smartphone, but it had room for improvements. According to journalists, the phone was not very convenient. The two separate screens needed to be replaced with one single and the appearance also needed to be improved. According to Jeff Yee, many of the smartphones that were brought by folks received well because he was able to replace them with immediate smartphones and tablets.

The ZTE Axon M had specifications including the 5.2-inch display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM, and 3180 mAh battery. ZTE also announced to bring 5G smartphone to the US sometime in 2019.

It’s clear that the Chinese company is trying to create more experiments to stand out in the smartphone market. In the second half of 2018, it is to see new foldable smartphones that will be a killer to the foldable Samsung Galaxy X.
