North America-based Parkmobile, LLC has been the largest provider of mobile parking services for quite some time now. The BMW Group just acquired them to become the leading international provider of digital parking solutions. A minority stake in Parkmobile, LLC has been held by the BMW Group since 2014.
Parkmobile has over 100 employees of its own, and they will continue to work with the new owners. More than 300 US cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Phoenix were within the service radar of Parkmobile, LLC. ParkNow, a part of the Parkmobile Group Europe, was undertaken by the BMW Group in April 2016. This brings all of the 22 million customers of Parkmobile across more than 1,000 cities in Europe and North America under the service of the BMW Group.
The BMW Group has a very strict corporate strategy, known as NUMBER ONE > NEXT. They prefer to focus on the mobility of the future, and in order to do so, they invest heavily in futuristic technologies. The expansion of its range of mobility services is believed to be a part of that strategy. This acquisition empowers the company to provide better parking solutions.

Parkmobile basically allows the drivers, irrespective of car brands, to do on-street parking, without any ticket, just via an app or directly from the car. It is a cashless procedure. Apart from that, the service can guide reserving and pay for off-street parking in garages and offer other transit-related services.
