As anticipated in the months to come, the global leader in carrier network technology, Huawei, announced today that it would partner with Google to enable increased ease in mobile messaging for its huge global user base by strategically incorporating Android Messages (powered by RCS) in its Android smartphone.

Powered by Android Messages and RCS messaging, all Huawei devices will now provide a more wholesome native messaging and communications experience to all its fans. Impressive attributes such as texting over Wi-Fi, group chats, dense media sharing, and typing indicators will be enabled as default features of the device. The fact that the Android and RCS apps will be default-loaded on Huawei’s devices won’t prevent people from using any of its alternatives because of the open nature of the Android ecosystem. Moreover, business messages are also slated to be upgraded on its devices through the convenient feature of RCS business messaging from Google, and all video calls will be directly made from Android Messages through carrier ViLTE and Google Duo.

Huawei and Google together by forming this strategic partnership will provide consumers with the best global user experience on Huawei products with RCS and will enable carriers the ability to offer unique services through business messaging. –  Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei’s Consumer Business Group

Not only this, RCS messaging and Huawei are joining hands to help carriers speed up the deployment of RCS messaging across their networks through the Jibe RCS cloud and hub solution to all its current and prospective carrier partners, keeping in line with the integrated solution drive offered by the current infrastructure of Huawei. With Huawei being the 3rd largest smartphone maker in the world, this partnership is wonderful news for both the carrier partners and users alike, as the accelerated RCS services will draw more and more subscribers on board, expanding the RCS messaging user and carrier partner base smoothly.

Huawei will soon commence the integration of Android Messages across its portfolio. The Chinese original equipment manufacturer stated that Huawei is to begin integrating Android Messages into its mobile devices over the “coming months” but didn’t elaborate any further, hinting at a possible Q2 rollout.

The collaboration is touted to be one long-term and a drive to rehash the USP of its devices for its consumer base in the West, who are mostly accustomed to advanced smartphone experience attuned to apps and services like the Play Store and Google’s apps, all of which are nearly banned in the Far East. Therefore to this end, The company is working hard on revamping its EMUI to match up to the high-end consumer expectations in the West and its move to integrate Androids Messages into its devices is a well-charted step towards this goal. This collaboration driven by Huawei lives up to its tagline “Make it Possible. Power * Efficiency.”
