Oppo A83 Launched in Indian Markets Featuring AI Beauty Recognition Technology

Yesterday, Oppo launched the Oppo A83 across various online and offline stores in India, featuring the AI Beauty recognition technology. Oppo India was teasing the launch for a while and will be available to purchase starting January 20.

According to the company, the look of its new smartphone is inspired by the Curve Design Philosophy of UFO. It sports a 5.7-inch HD+ LCD display supporting 720 x 1440p resolution and the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio.

The processor is MediaTek MT6763T Helio P23 octa-core, clocking at 2.5GHz. Oppo A83 further packs 4GB RAM and 32GB internal memory that’s expandable up to 256GB via microSD. It runs Android 7.1 Nougat, having Color OS 3.2 skin.

Among cameras, the device features a 13 MP rear camera with an LED flash. The highlight of AI Beauty recognition is on the front camera that’s 8 MP with improved selfie attributes. The AI technology is able to ‘classify, recognise, and beautify’ for portrait photos in three aspects: gender, age, and skin color and texture. In the release, the brand said: “AI will intelligently optimize the scene to cleverly integrate the portrait and background as if the photo has been touched up by a professional.”

Moving ahead, Oppo A83 bears the face unlock feature that can unlock the handset in 0.18 seconds, as claimed by the company. The standard connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11, 4G VoLTE, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, OTG and 3.5mm audio jack. The battery is 3,180mAh, and the device measures 150.5 x 73.1 x 7.7 mm, weighing 143 grams.

Oppo A83 is priced at Rs. 13,990 and comes off in two color variants: Black and Gold. In Oppo’s home market China, the phone was launched in last December in Champagne and Black, priced at 1,399 Yuan. Check out the phone starting January 20 in Flipkart, Amazon, and all of Oppo’s offline stores.
