We received news that Huawei is manufacturing its Honor 7x in India. This is one of the inceptive parts of the Chinese brand’s initiative ‘Make in India,’ via which it unleashes its ambition to prioritize the nation’s smartphone market, in order to become a global leader.

At the Honor 9 Lite launch event, the company disclosed that they are eyeing to be the third-largest smartphone brand within a span of 5 years. In order to earn such grandeur, Huawei is targeting the Indian market. According to them, the preliminary objective of achieving 10% market share requires bringing new smartphones in India before other markets in the world.

P. Sanjeev, Sales VP of Huawei stated that the brand adopted this approach right with the launch of Honor 9 Lite. The smartphone was indeed launched in the country one month ahead of other markets.

The focus on the Indian market has increased significantly…We do biweekly meetings with top bosses in China to update them about the growth and support required. Seeing the potential, we expect India to become our largest market outside China soon. – P. Sanjeev, Sales VP of Huawei

As per further reports received, we know that the Chinese company is boosting investments in not just manufacturing, but also Research and Development (R&D). They have about 300 engineers, an exclusive backup to provide support to the Indian market.

Going over the present market scenarios, the likes of Xiaomi and Oppo have been dominating the smartphone market in India for their dual-channel strategy – online and offline. This is where Huawei and Honor in the nation are yet to establish itself, as it could only settle down in the online space so far.

Sanjeev further revealed that the brand will open its first offline experience centre, which is going to be in India. Huawei started manufacturing phones in the country collaborating with Flex India in September 2016. More than 30,000 retail shops in India provide the products of the brand and it has dealings with more than 400 distributors.
