Pokemon fans, strap your belt and get ready for the ride! The first Pokemon GO Community Day hits today, January 20, 2018. It is the new monthly event sponsored by the developer, where you get to be a part of the community and enjoy loads of new features in the game.

Niantic brings this brand new opportunity for like-minded people who are in love with the game. The event is taking place in different time zones, specifically: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM GMT in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India; 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM PST in the Americas and Greenland; and 12 PM to 3:00 PM JST in the Asia Pacific.

As for the goodies you will enjoy alongside making new friends, the highlight is: that you get to come across a special Pokemon for only three hours every month starting today. Within this short time period, you will as well get to train that Pokemon in a ‘previously unavailable move.’

The period also gets you to earn Community Day bonuses and double XP in the game. Furthermore, there is a special Pikachu with a surfing ability for you to enjoy!

If you have been hooked on to this game for some time now (if not long enough), then you probably know about certain small communities that have a Pokemon GO presence over the social media platforms such as Facebook, Reddit, and Discord. Following these will lead you to catch, train, battle and win your Pokemon in the game: filling you with an ultimate experience.

If you’d rather not go out and look for Pokemon, the game still gives you the opening to have fun with the special Pikachu with a Lucky Egg. This will maximize your fun four times during the Community Day hours, but it might keep you from some ultra fun that the community joinees will be engaged in.

A recent announcement from the developer states that support for the game will be dropped for iOS phones like iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c, effective from February 28.

Do not forget to visit your local parks and other public places to be a part of the Pokemon GO Community during the 3-hour window. This is not a Pokemon GO Fest or Safari Zone events, where you needed to be around Pacific locations!

Tell us in comments below about your experience on an inaugural day, and stay tuned with us for the next update.
