Samsung has provided its Galaxy users with the provision of saving app data in the Samsung Cloud. But in the latest move, Samsung has decided to purge its cloud data from all third-party app backups.

Samsung has been informing its users via mail that its cloud will no longer support or save third-party app data. Users must relocate their backup data to another cloud before 6th February. To ensure that its users have no trouble relocating their data, Samsung has suggested them to use Smart Switch. Users can also use backup and restoration facilities provided by other third-party apps.

Samsung’s policy change, however, states clearly, that the cloud will be deleting all third-party app data from the 6th of February, and if users have failed to relocate their data to some other cloud by then, they shall not be able to restore the lost data from Samsung cloud. The cloud will support pre-loaded apps like Contacts, Calendar, and Samsung Internet, home screen and system setting. The files uploaded to the cloud will remain unaffected. Secure folder backups, an option used by Samsung users to keep their data private from snoops or to secure their data in case the mobile is lost, shall also remain unharmed by the change. The cloud will continue storing data from its own apps like Samsung Keyboard, S Note, and Samsung Notes apps.

One of the most effective alternatives that users may seek out to relocate their app data is the Google Drive. And since Samsung has provided a long window to its users for safe transfer of app data, users may not be afraid of losing any data.
