Elon Musk’s tunneling startup, The Boring Company, officially unveiled its latest product, the flamethrower. It’s priced at $500 and can be pre-ordered now.

Elon Musk announced on Twitter in December that if 50,000 Boring Company hats were sold, he would bring out a flamethrower as their next product. Most people took it as a joke back then, but as of now, the Boring Co. flamethrower is now a reality.

Musician D.A. Wallach demonstrated the fiery contraption on his Instagram page, earlier this month. His post, taken at a Boring Co. tunneling site, had him use the flamethrower. At this point, the critics thought the flamethrower could come out as a special edition collection.

As of now, a whopping 20,000 pieces of the product have been made available in the market. A fire extinguisher for an additional $30 is being sold along with it, as well.

The flamethrower is believed to be inspired from the movie Spaceballs. In his usual attitude, Elon Musk predicted the zombie apocalypse and described the flamethrower as an effective way of handling the zombie outbreak. Musk also mentioned that after the flamethrowers, their next product is going to be the Boring Company Freezegun. He didn’t mention any specific detail about the Freezegun though.

Musk has confirmed that 4,000 Boring Co. flamethrowers are already sold. It took less than 24 hours for Elon Musk to raise $2 million by selling flamethrowers.

The Boring Company flamethrower is not as strong as the professionally used flamethrowers. It is capable of shooting flames over short distances only. Actual flamethrowers like XM42-M can shoot flames up to 30 feet. The device is meant for fun. It’s quite evident from the videos that it is simply a propane torch fitted on an apparent modified CSI S.T.A.R. XR-5 Airsoft Rifle. It resembles the weed-killing torches like Weed Dragon.

The way these flamethrowers are getting sold, it not really illogical to expect the Boring Co. Freezegun soon.
