WhatsApp has updated its latest iOS version to 2.18.20 to usher in a number of new features to make the app more user-friendly. The messaging platform, in use since 2009, boasts of ever-rising popularity. WhatsApp’s official changelog on the AppStore reports ‘Bug Fixes’, but the app has introduced a small number of changes and improvements.

To begin with, this version has deleted all the methods WhatsApp had been studying to prevent spam. So far as group chats are concerned, a user can quote a text from a group he’s no longer a part of by simply tapping on the text and selecting the ‘reply’ option. This will open the chat with the user, and if the user taps on the quoted text, it will automatically open the group chats with the quoted message highlighted.

The latest WhatsApp iOS version 2.18.20 supports big emojis even in the quoted message box. A ‘Search’ option in the ‘Group Info’ section will allow the user to search the participants of the group, with the info list beginning with the names of the group administrators. The update has also enabled the ‘Mentions’ notification button. This is a really useful feature since it will allow the user to skip all irrelevant text and reach the text addressed to him directly if his name is preceded by ‘@’ symbol in said text.

These new improvements are sure to better user experience, as it does away with a number of inconveniences faced by users while using group chats.
