The MWC 2018 is surely going to be a great platform for Qualcomm as they have decided to unroll some of the latest doings of the company. This year the MWC will start on the 26 of February and will be concluded on 1st March.

Today Qualcomm Technologies officially declared a new LTE IoT Software Development Kit (SDK) for the existing global multimedia modem with model no. MDM9206. This LTE modem is being used by various IoT hardware modules from third-party providers. The newly designed SDK will backup the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), application and solution developers, new to IoT entrants, and other non-traditional ecosystem players and peripheral interfaces incorporated with the aforesaid modem. Because of the new extensions, developers now can test their custom software within the CPU of the modem. The MDM9206 is scheduled to be released within the next four months.

5G technology news has been on the front burner for the last two years. After a lot of buzzes, today, the world witnessed the “5G” technology for the next phase of the global 5G New Radio(NR) standard. And yes!!! You guessed that right!, the demonstrator was Qualcomm. On February 7th, Qualcomm Technologies gave a live demonstration, which advertised the company’s continued leadership in developing the foundational Qualcomm 5G NR technology. They have chosen the MWC 2018 to display the demonstration of this. Another testament indicates the advantages of wireless PROFINET industrial Ethernet over 5G NR. For the next phase of 3GPP 5G NR, the center of attention will be the private 5G Networks for Industrial IoT.

Along with these, a new LTE modem has been proposed by Qualcomm today. The model is called as Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 LTE modem. As per the company’s claim, this is “ World’s first announced Category 20 LTE modem supporting 2 gigabytes per second (Gbps) download speed, and the first-announced chip built on a leading-edge 7nanometer FinFET process”. The first-floor can be revealed at MWC Barcelona, Feb 26, Booth: Hall 3, stand 3E10.in partnership with Ericsson, Telstra, and NETGEAR.

To be adequate for the new Enterprise and Industrial IoT customers in terms of secure provision, connecting and managing long life-cycles of billion of intelligent wireless devices through cloud platforms Qualcomm publicized Qualcomm® Edge services, a set of trusted software services. For now, only some selected chipsets like MDM9206, MDM9628 and QCA4020 can be used to implement these softwares.

We believe very close collaboration between cloud computing and edge devices is necessary to address the challenges of the industrial IoT ecosystem, – Ray Guan, deputy general manager, Baidu Cloud.

At MeiG, we understand that device security is a core requirement for today’s growing IoT,” said Benjamin Du, chief executive officer, MeiG Smart.

As demand for device connectivity continues to grow across new use cases and industries, the requirements of the massive IoT are becoming increasingly more diversified. – Wendy Wang, general manager, SIMCom Wireless

“SIMCom is providing service for an installed-base of 10,000 Enterprise customers with 100 million connections around the world today, we are excited about Qualcomm wireless edge services to help address such a big user base with strong hardware-based security design. With Qualcomm wireless edge services, we hope to continue to develop cost-efficient LTE modules that meet the increasingly diversified connectivity, processing, and security requirements without requiring an extra layer of hardware or software” said Dr. Jun Zou, Chief Technology Officer, SunseaGroup.
