Microsoft terminates push notification service for Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0

Feb 19, 2018, 4:30 pm

Starting February 20, Microsoft will end push notification service for the devices running Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 and 8. The company announced this on February 19, noting that the platforms are no longer supported, which directs it to discontinue services.

No more of push notifications means that the devices with OS Windows Phone 7 and 8 will not receive notifications anymore. Live tiles will not receive updates either, and neither will the ‘find my phone’ feature work. This is understandably a push from Microsoft to the users to turn to the Windows Phone 8.1 and 10.

According to the company, this change will not affect the devices with 8.1 and 10 of course. But it is apparent for when these platforms will have supports ending, the services will be stopped. Other services for 7.5 and 8 will be stopped over time, hints the company.
