iPhone SE 2 to release at WWDC 2018 with an even bigger price and display

iPhone SE 2

A Chinese site, QQ claims that Apple will launch a new version of the iPhone SE 2 at this year’s WWDC, an occasion where iOS 12 will also be unveiled. The device is reported to maintain its compact appearance but also offer a new screen. The screen will appear bigger but without making the device physically larger.

According to reports, the new iPhone SE 2 won’t look like the iPhone X, instead, the new model will purportedly have a similar design as the original iPhone SE, with top and bottom bezels on the front, a metal back and frame, and a home button.

Report from sources asserts that the touch ID would be retained for the iPhone SE 2 rather than implementing Face ID. The site also claims the display size will enlarge to 4.2 inches. It represents only a tiny change from the existing 4-inch display, thus requiring a lot of existing design work to be completely redone.

The company is more focused on making under-the-hood improvements to the iPhone SE, as it has been outdated for some few years now. The new model will be powered by a faster A10 Fusion chip coupled with 32GB or 128GB storage capacities. The phone might provide support for wireless charging, which is also one of the reasons to fetch a higher price than the existing iPhone SE.

iPhone SE looks much like the iPhone 5s, which includes a 4-inch display, the device is powered by Apple’s A9 chip, like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and has 2GB of RAM, a rear camera with 12-megapixel, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Touch ID. The phone is not much refreshed since its launch in March 2016; it has dropped the price to $349 last September.

The latest iPhone SE 2 without the Face ID is still price tagged for € 510 (4000 yuan).
