WhatsApp is on a roll to come up with new updates recently, and it is prioritizing Windows phones over iOS and Android in the spree. WhatsApp group description update is presently being rolled out to Windows and Android only.

The group description feature enables users to write a description of the group within 500 characters. It was noticed that only Android and Windows users could see it, not iOS users. If you are using Windows or Android and haven’t seen it yet, you will see it soon. As for the iOS users, they won’t even receive a notification for the update, not yet at least, but soon afterward, they will too grab hold of the update.

The description can be seen right above the ‘Join Group’ for the invited users. This makes it more convenient for new members to choose whether to join or not after being invited. For the time being, any member of the group can add or edit the description. Although, WABetaInfo says that only group administrators will be able to add or modify descriptions in the coming future.

This update takes the WhatsApp Beta version to 2.18.54 for Android and 2.18.28 for Windows. Another update regarding live location for Windows is currently being tested in the beta version of 2.18.24. The social media platform says it will stabilize within the coming weeks. Now Windows users will be able to share their live locations in personal as well as group chats, just like their Android and iOS counterparts.

Tell us in the comments below whether you’ve already received these updates if you are an Android or Windows user. Stay with us for the next updates of WhatsApp as soon as they get surface.
