While its flagship phones are yet to be unveiled, Huawei has already kicked off MWC, currently taking place in Barcelona, with a premium Windows notebook and new Android tablets.

The notebook, named Huawei MateBook X Pro, carries forward the line of MateBook X launched last May. Its 13.9-inch display has a superior resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels, and its narrow bezels account for a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. An 8th-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processors power the notebook, while its chipset may either be an Intel UHD Graphics 620 or an Nvidia GeForce MX150.

The notebook has up to 16 GB of RAM. With four speakers built into the base and Dolby Atmos compatibility, the Huawei MateBook X Pro is all set to give laptops from Dell, Microsoft, and Apple a run for their money. The 1.3 kg notebook boasts of a fingerprint sensor built into the power button, two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and at least 14 hours of battery life. One of the function keys at the top of the laptop’s keyboard pops up to reveal a webcam, making it a first of its kind. Space Gray and Mystic Silver are the color options available for the device.

Huawei’s Android tablet, the MediaPad 5, has three available variants, an 8.4-inch, a 10.8-inch, and a 10.8-inch with a stylus option (the MediaPad 5 Pro). All three devices have a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600-pixel, a curved edge, and an integrated fingerprint scanner. The Huawei MatePad 5 has opted for Huawei’s own Android skin and shall be powered by Kirin 960 CPU. It has 4 GB of RAM, and 32 GB to 128 GB expandable internal storage, and a battery life of 10-11 hours. The high-end MatePad 5, including the M-Pen stylus, closely resembles Apple’s iPad Pro; and the possibility of an official keyboard accessory that may soon be launched for the device might make it a much-needed Android rival to the slates made by Apple. The tablet will be available in Champagne Gold and Titanium Gray.

Huawei is yet to announce the prices and market launch dates for either of the devices.
