In a strategic marketing move supporting its mid-range smartphone flagships, Samsung has taken up two of its best players in the market, namely, the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ ( both unveiled in 2018), and is constantly updating and upgrading them. While these two versions were one of the first of the company’s devices to have been given the January 2018 security patch, it’s already late for this month’s security patch as the fag end of February approaches.

Nevertheless, Samsung has dispatched the latest security updates to both Galaxy A8 and the A8+ version.  The Galaxy A8 update brings in good news for all the Samsung Galaxy fans as it enables enhanced features in the already inbuilt attributes such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, camera, incoming and outgoing calls, and so on. The changelog plays its secret by not revealing exactly the improvements, but is standalone evidence of the company’s smart drive of lending support to its freshly launched mid-range smartphones, a move that would unsurprisingly widen its potential consumer base.

As the two Galaxy models hit the stores in various markets around the globe, such as in Netherlands and Russia, Samsung will upgrade the firmware version to A530FXXU2ARB6 and A730FXXU2ARB6, respectively. This update should flash upon the user’s A8 or A8+ model automatically, given that he/she is connected to a proper Wi-Fi network.

Those busybodies who dislike waiting for a Wi-Fi connection can manually configure the update from the Settings » Software update menu displayed on the device. But it is to be kept in mind that the over-the-air download is only possible at 400 MB, and so direct updates from the phone can only be done with the specific data bandwidth that the download requires. The new builds can be accessed on the firmware database as well as through Samsung’s Smart Switch software on a PC.
