Fitbit teased a new smartwatch at its recent investors’ call, which they claimed shall appeal to the masses. Wearables have been able to gather images and information regarding the same, which they say might go by the name of Fitbit Blaze 2, and might be announced this spring.

Reports from last year claimed that the company was working on a new Blaze, and it can be confirmed that the smartwatch will run on the OS that originally featured in the Ionic. With its large, unattractive design, the Ionic, available in a single size, failed to appeal to the masses. “It wants this to be something that will appeal to a larger, more general smartwatch audience,” admitted the company. The new model is hence being created in a way so as to attract a large consumer base, especially the female market, with a much smaller size, closely resembling that of the first Blaze.

As of yet, it can be confirmed that the watch will be water resistant up to 50m, making it the third ever Fitbit device to withstand swimming. While the watch will have the same relative SpO2 sensor as that of the Ionic, meaning the new watch will be able to monitor for sleep apnoea when Fitbit enables this feature across its devices, it won’t be equipped with GPS.

The squared-designed smartwatch, reminiscent of the Pebble Time 2, will be available in four shades: black, silver, rose gold, and charcoal, along with a choice of straps. It is expected to be priced much lower than the Ionic to comply with the goal of appealing to the masses. When asked for comments, Fitbit has said that they have “no news to share at this time.”
