The self-driving car took six years to complete its 1st million miles and six months to reach its 4th million miles, and its 5th million miles happened just within three months. Waymo odometer rolled over to its 5th million miles this February on public roads.

Waymo is picking up speed; they are driving as many miles in a day as the average American adult drives in a year. The self-driven car is driven by various diverse conditions and is being test driven in 25 U.S. cities with varied weather conditions and terrains, including snowy Michigan, hilly San Francisco, and hot Arizona.

It’s no secret that the company has made incredible progress since its inception. Last year it drove 2.7 billion miles alone in the virtual world to test the new driving milieu for extra practice. It has also been focusing on educating consumers on how it works – a logical step as Waymo prepares to expand its pilot and begin operating a ride-hail service.

And to help everyone understand how it works, they have developed a Waymo 360-degree video that launched on February 28 ‘The Waymo 360 degree experience’. It is available on desktop, mobile, or with virtual reality headsets such as Google Cardboard and Daydream.

This experience provides the consumer with real-time data from a trip around Metro Phoenix, Arizona. It puts you in the passenger seat to see how Waymo sees the world around it. The 360-degree video provides you with the chances to take the first ride in a fully self-driving car.
