Lei Jun, CEO of the Chinese tech giant, announced that the company’s next product Xiaomi Mi 7 would sport the new Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip announced very recently by Qualcomm. But the company has been maintaining silence regarding the smartphone. No news has been yet heard as to the release date of the phone. But a new phone, Xiaomi Mix 2S, has been brought out into the market.

Many reports are going around regarding Xiaomi Mi 7. According to a source, Xiaomi delayed the launch of the Mi 7 because they were developing some new features which they wanted to integrate into the new smartphone. The new changes include the addition of new sensors and a possible change in the design. But the phone may feature a display notch and an Infrared Camera (IR) sensor. It is worth noting that with the launch of Apple’s iPhone X, which features the said display notch, all the smartphone companies started participating in the new trend. A lot of phones were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, which will feature the display notch in the future.

Huawei P20 and Samsung’s Galaxy S9 are already sporting the display notch system and the Face ID. Mi 7 may follow the trend soon. However, some aspects remain unchanged, like the OLED display with an always-on display feature and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip. Within the MIUI Camera, MIUI system UI, and MIUI settings Apps, several references to the notch were found. Within the MIUI keyguard app, a new method called openIRCamera is displayed. The IR camera here may refer to an Infrared Camera sensor. Apple’s Face ID system uses this Infrared Camera sensor too.
