Fitbit has introduced two new devices on Tuesday, 13th March 2018: ‘Versa’, its second smartwatch, designed to rival Apple smartwatches, and ‘Ace’, a fitness tracker for kids.

Fitbit has claimed that the Versa is the “lightest metal smartwatch” in the US market, and has a case made of ultra-thin, anodized aluminum that is slightly tapered and angled so it fits wrists of all sizes. The device’s touch screen can be brightened up to 1000 Nits, allowing the user to read the screen even in bright lights.

24/7 heart rate tracking, on-screen workouts, onboard music storage, and automatic sleep tracking are some of the features that the Versa, running on Fitbit OS 2.0, has been endowed with. It is also going to be the first device to ship with Fitbit’s new female health tracking features, which will let women track their menstrual and fertility cycles, including the ability to log symptoms and predict periods, by using the Fitbit phone app.

The standard version of the device, priced at $199.95, has omitted the option of Fitbit Pay, which is still available to those who opt for the special version, priced at $229.95.

The device has a battery that lasts more than 4 days on a single charge and shall be available in black with a black aluminum case, gray with a silver aluminum case, and peach with a rose gold aluminum case. Users can also choose from a wide range of accessories for the device, from stain-resistant classic bands to Horween leather, stainless steel links, metal mesh bands, and a designer collection priced between $29.95 and $99.95.

As the wearables category continues to grow, Fitbit Versa fills a critical need in the market by delivering a beautifully designed, full-featured smartwatch that is easy to use at a very competitive price. Versa brings consumers the advanced health and fitness feature Fitbit is known for, along with broad compatibility across mobile platforms and 4+ days battery life to provide users with a better picture of their overall health, making it stand out from any smartwatch available today. – James Park, Co-Founder and CEO of Fitbit

The Fitbit Ace, for its part, has been equipped with features that will allow kids aged 8 and above to use the device to automatically track steps, active minutes, and sleep on a five-day battery. Parents can use the Fitbit family account to control and monitor who the kids connect with the Fitbit app, along with other features of the Ace band. The badge shall remind kids to kids to move and reward them for listening to reminders with collectible badges. The device was priced at $99.95.

The Versa and the Ace are expected to launch worldwide on April 2018.
