Xiaomi launches 4 color variants of Redmi 5 in India via online event, sale from March 20

Today, March 14, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5 in three variants in India and is presently showcasing the handsets at the online-only launch event that’s live-streamed via the brand’s official Facebook page. Manu Kumar Jain, the India-head for the brand spoke about design, display, processor, and camera of the new smartphones. The criteria were compared with the same of Moto G5S Plus and Samsung Galaxy J7 Max. Redmi India in its tweets revealing specs, price and launch details of the phone has as well announced for users a chance to win a ‘Compact Powerhouse’ if retweeted. Xiaomi nicknamed its latest smartphone as the same referring to its premium features. Redmi 5 showcases 5.7 inch HD+ Full-screen display supporting 720 x 1440p with the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio, 282ppi pixel density. It is a dual nano-SIM phone with MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat ‘out-of-the-box.’ The device packs the Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor and has a 3,300mAh ‘full-day’ battery life. Dimensions are 151.8 x 72.8 x 7.7mm, and weight is 157 grams. The three variants for Xiaomi Redmi 5 with price in the country are 2GB+16GB for Rs. 7,999, 3GB+32GB for Rs. 8,999 and 4GB+64GB for Rs. 10,999. As Jain noted, the handsets have been tested several times for durability.
