Apple is Developing Its Own Microled Screens at the California Facility

Must Read

If the reports are to be believed, Apple had started producing displays that were too MicroLED type to use on the Apple devices. There were talks around that Apple is trying to come up with their self-made displays, which may totally cut off the involvement of third-party companies like LG or Sony.

MicroLEDs are being used, as mentioned earlier which will make the devices look slimmer, brighter, and less power-consuming. The people closely related to the project said Apple had already spent a huge amount on this project and proceeded to do so to make the campaign lucrative. Other than this, Apple officials have denied sharing any further details regarding this.

Though Apple has started working on their plan in full swing, it will take some years to launch in the market, as manufacturing the MicroLED screens is way more difficult and time-consuming compared to the regular OLED screens. Display makers like LG Display Co., Samsung Electronics Co., Japan Display Inc., And Sharp Corp. will definitely get affected by this initiative of Apple as they have been supplying the screens to Apple Inc. For a period. Ray Soneira, who runs screen tester DisplayMate Technologies, says, “bringing in-house is a golden opportunity for Apple”. “Everyone can buy an OLED or LCD screen. But Apple could MicroLED”.

The Californian tech giant has reportedly set up a 62,000 square-foot manufacturing factory in Santa Clara, California, and about 300 have been appointed. The giant will require a whole new infrastructure to produce the Apple MicroLED screens in bulk. As per some experts, this assignment may land Apple in some difficulties. The price of the products with such displays may increase, and as the operation is going to take a while, some new technology may appear which would be more effective. We can just hope that this makes the Apple products better and different from the other devices. Time will say what this would take shape into.
