The next version of the overwhelming Xiaomi Mi A1 (Mi 5X), the much-awaited Xiaomi Mi A2 (Mi 6X) is on its way. A Xiaomi smartphone with model number M1804D2SC is spotted on the Chinese certification portal TENAA today. There were a couple of images, as well. These images, suspected to be of MI A2, indicate that the Mi A2 is going to look a lot like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Apart from the model number and the images, no further details are known yet.

Last year Xiaomi launched a Red color variant of the Mi A1/Mi 5X in several markets, including India. A similar red variant of Mi A2 is also expected to be released this year.

These TENAA images were posted online by a Weibo user. He also wrote that the Xiaomi smartphone will get released in April alongside some other IoT products in China. In China, the device will be released as Mi 6X. Outside China, the device will be named Mi A2 & it will feature the stock Android on board.

The Mi A1 was launched in September 2017 & its successor is reported to get launched around the same time this year. Whether it is launched with Android P onboard would be quite interesting to see, as Google’s update timeline has already confirmed that the stable build of the Android P will be ready by August 2018.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 obviously came with a dual camera setup at the back. The combination of the primary camera & telephoto lens of Mi A1 will not change in Mi A2. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC & will feature up to 6 GB of RAM. The battery capacity, though, will not be as massive like Note 5 Pro. The display section of Note 5 Pro is getting repeated on this device.

The Mi Mix 2S flagship smartphone is about to get launched by Xiaomi in China tomorrow. Xiaomi will also utilize the launch event to introduce a couple of IoT products.
