It’s a heads-up for all the Whatsapp fans as WhatsApp brings in its new WhatsApp beta for all the Android users today as an improvisation for its Change Number feature. The WhatsApp team has constantly been working on the modification of this feature in its applications across iOS, Android, and Windows Phones.
While changing the phone number, the user can tap on the Change Number feature in WhatsApp Settings in order to transfer personal data to the new number, including the WhatsApp Chat history kept intact. Furthermore, number, thereby informing the members about the change in number and retaining the user in their groups all the same.
The new updated WhatsApp version 2.18.97 Android beta update that is available on Google Play Store can be accessed to activate the update and unlock improved control and functions of the feature. Starting today, the improvements can be used to notify either selected contacts or all contacts about the change in number.
For this, one has to simply insert the specific old and new phone numbers, following which WhatsApp will pop up a query asking which contacts are to be notified about the new number. And all the groups will be immediately notified after the number change.
Once the transfer has been done, all shared messages from the old chat will be migrated to the new one on the recipient’s phone, and the chat box will flash a new bubble, indicating that the user has taken a new number.
Not only this, WhatsApp has also come up with a new updated version of 2.18.40 that can be accessed on AppStore. The rolling out of this new feature is corroborated by the official changelog on AppStore, which enables the users to view recent status updates in the WhatsApp widget in their iPhone’s Today View. Among its new features, the update enables bug fixes, improvements and a host of other features that are being developed.
Zeroing on the information sported on the Changelog, the users can listen to voice messages while opening another app or turning the screen off. Although this is not a fresh feature as the former versions already had it, the update ensures that this feature works effectively for all its users. Moreover, the voice messages are played as real audio through this update, enabling iOS to show it in the control center and in the lock screen.
When hit with bugs, this version allows the users to inform about the same to WhatsApp developers so as to send the crashlogs to them even when the application cannot be opened due to the bug attack. And the crashlogs will help the developers to solve the bug problem in the user’s installed version.
The advanced Changelog of WhatsApp entails new features that are still a work in progress and so are not available yet for the users. These include improvements for group video calls, and adding translations for the Sticker feature which WhatsApp has just begun working on. These features shall be enabled in the upcoming releases of WhatsApp.
With its two new updated releases, WhatsApp ups its own game of offering occasional updates to its users so as to keep them glued to the app. And, why not?
