Apple brings former Amazon CTO on board as VP of software development

Apple says that it hired technology executive John McCormack as a Vice President of the division of software development. McCormack previously worked for Google, HP, and Amazon. This is the second executive hire of Apple in one week, the first being John Giannandrea of Google for the division of AI.

As per his LinkedIn profile, McCormack was an executive in Advanced Technology and Products group of Google. Then, he led the software division for HP. After that, he served for several years at Amazon as VP of software for Kindle gadgets and as Chief Technology Officer of the devices group.

Further details aren’t clear yet. Apple would want to develop reliability and performance of iOS. Also, it has its focus on a cross-platform solution for macOS/iOS. McCormack will find his works in these areas.
