The US Federal Communications Commission, better known as the FCC, has recently released some new photos of a device supposedly from Shenzhen SEI Robotics Co., Ltd. The new device is labeled as ‘4K ATV Stick’, and the photos have certainly piqued the interest of technology and gadget nerds worldwide. What is striking about this new device is that it shows a giant Google logo on top of it. The image of the Android TV dongle released by Google reminds everyone of the Chromecast dongles, which was a landmark event for Google as it gained them immense popularity across the globe, and Google got a hold of the majority of the living rooms all around the world. The images that are released are of an HDMI dongle with the latest version of Android TV, and it comes with a voice remote which is enabled by Google Assistant.

The dongle has an HDMI (2.0A) output and power (5V/2A) input. The dongle comes with 2 GB of RAM, onboard memory is 8GB of eMMC storage, and it is powered by the latest Amilogic S905X processor. The images also show some features of the Google Assistant-enabled remote control. The remote comes with a power button, a hamburger menu, a D-Pad with a back, a Google Assistant button and a home button, and a control button for either volume or channel up/down underneath. But the images do not show any sign of Ethernet connection like the Chromecast Ultra but the dongle, however, includes dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1.

The process for setting up is fairly easy and pretty straightforward, and the screenshot of the Android TV home screen shows that it is run on the latest Oreo updated version of Android TV, which was launched at Google last year. Google has been in need of such a device for a long time so that the developers can use them according to their preferences and it has been speculated that this new device is the one that Google was looking for. The device may be submitted by another party that has their own Android TV devices but the Google logo on the top of the device kind of confirms all the speculations. It should be noted that Google I/O is only a few weeks from now on so this could be the device that is solely focused on developers and which will be seeded to other developers.
