Intel introduced two new technologies today: Threat Detection Technology (TDT) and Intel Security Essentials. It has as well announced a ‘strengthened academic partnership’ with Purdue University.

Intel Threat Detection Technology is a silicon-level capability that aims to detect new threat types in the ecosystem. Two TDT capabilities are being introduced today, including Microsoft and Cisco implementation plans.

The first capability is called Accelerated Memory Scanning, providing more scanning with less power consumption. As per early benchmarking of Intel’s systems, CPU utilization dropped from 20% to 2% in scanning. Microsoft’s Windows Defender ATP’s antivirus capability will be integrated with Accelerated Memory Scanning.

Intel Advanced Platform Telemetry is the second TDT capability brought by the company. It is a combination of machine learning algorithms and platform telemetry and has three purposes. It improves the detection of advanced threats, reduces false positives, and minimizes performance impact. Cisco Tetration platform will be the first to have a hand in this integration.

Now for Intel Security Essentials that eyes to provide a consistent ‘critical root-of-trust hardware security capabilities across the processors of the tech brand. This will accelerate trusted computing, will improve the security posture of computing, lowering expense in security solutions, and minimize performance impact. On the whole, it is a set of platform integrity technologies directly integrated into Intel silicon, finding its purpose to protect cyber assets at runtime.

Last but not least, Intel’s commitment to being ‘an active partner in the security ecosystem’ via strengthening its academic partnership with Purdue University. Developed with Intel, the university has launched the Design for Security Badge Program today for students and professionals. The aim is to reduce talent gaps in the concerned industry.

Intel invites at its booth #3435 in North Hall of Moscone Center for the RSA 2028 conference, where several other partners will have announcements to make. Follow us to get updates on further technology innovations around the world.
